the ground that walks on me

i’m gonna work with what i have
here
in these bones
that have fused together
in the shape
of the way
that i have lived

i’m going to retrace my steps
without going back
the ground
that i have walked
has made as much of an impression on me
as i have made on it

i will take
what i have used
and what has used me
and try to make something
new
something unexpected
yet perfectly planned
i will make a map
out of randomness

i will let nature decide
where i go
but i will choose
what to do with it
once we get there
